Aileen Leventon is a business counselor to the legal industry and a practicing lawyer with over 30 years of experience. She provides customized training and coaching to enable lawyers to integrate business practices with their work. Her clients include some of the most well-respected Fortune 100 companies as well as prestigious and profitable firms in the AmLaw 100 and 200.
Aileen has advised general counsel on issues relating to the economics of law practice and has provided related training on topics critical to success as an in-house lawyer. Aileen has facilitated after-action reviews of closed matters and also been embedded in ongoing matters to provide analysis and coaching to bring distressed matters back on course.
Industry Training Programs
Aileen has been trained by the National Institute of Trial Advocacy to deliver training on business skills relevant to lawyers, and is designing the program for senior associates on partnership track for The Fullbridge Program.
She has provided hands-on workshops and training programs for members of corporate legal departments, senior law department managers and law firm partners (including new partners and client relation leads). She designed the pilot program for the Association of Corporate Counsel’s legal services management curriculum, now in its third year.
Most recently she designed and presented live programs and webinars on legal project management for Ark Group, the New York State Bar Association and The New York City Bar professional development series. She is the project manager for the LPM task force of the American Bar Association Committee on Mergers & Acquisitions.
Career Highlights
After receiving her MBA, Aileen served as a partner in the global legal management consulting practice at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP (1995-2002), followed by two years as a partner at the US office of Blaqwell Inc. (2004-2006). She began her legal career at Proskauer Rose LLP in New York, followed by an equal period as a transactional lawyer at Equitable Life/AXA. She has also held positions with entrepreneurial organizations in the legal and non-profit sectors.
Education
Aileen graduated from Columbia Business School in 1994, Cornell Law School in 1977, where she was Managing Editor of the Cornell Law Review, and from Stony Brook University (State University of New York) in 1974, where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa.
